Greater City Aquarium Society
Since 1922, Greater City has been a venue for enthusiasts to meet and discuss aquarium-related topics and concerns. Our aquarium society meets every first Wednesday of the month (except January and February) at the Queens Botanical Garden. Membership dues are $30.00 annually, for individuals or families. This fee includes ten issues, one for each month of the year (starting in March), of our award-winning magazine, ‘Modern Aquarium’.
Our meetings feature bowl shows, auctions, refreshments, raffles, and door prizes, as well as presentations by expert speakers from our club and from around the country. We also have a Breeders' Award Program, and an Authors Award Program for contributors to 'Modern Aquarium'.
“To a world where nearly everyone is immersed in virtual reality comes the story of a man whose journey is a showcase of a time that no longer exists, of exploits we may never see again, and of people whose lives were triumphant and, sometimes, tragic. This book was ten years in the making, but it describes a journey that spans over seven decades. No one who wants to know the history of the aquarium hobby in America can have a complete understanding of it without reading this book. It is an autobiography filled with spectacular and historic photos, and contains insights into fish breeding from the person many consider to be its foremost practitioner. Turn its pages, and let the adventure begin!”
